If memory serves correct , new giant head coach Tom Couglin was gold in preseason when he was with the jaguars. One of the reasons was his liberal use of blitz packages which he made no apology for using , with the mindset they were such a important part of his d, he wanted them practiced and executed throughout the game. Couglin has a new team and new personnel, but I suspect he brings the same philosphy with him to NY. I will be considering them as a play as I will research it more this week.

The chiefs were one of the best teams last year, the Giants one of the worst, and now they are going to be playing Kurt Warner for what, the first drive or quarter of the game? They will have to punt, and K.C. will drive 50 yards in 3 minutes for a touchdown. If you think their second squad can make up the difference by all means take the Giants, what is the line, K.C. -7? Oh wait, you're telling me the Chiefs are getting 2 points?

I'm going to take K.C.

OREN, preseason is totally different from the regular season. The fact kc was one of the bettor teams and the jints at the other end of the spectrum last year , really doesn't come into play particularly in the early preseason games. My point is coughlin has a track record of winning in preseason because of his constant use of blitzing in games most coaches use it sparingly. [early preseason]. How long are they playing manning for? I will know that the day of the game. For all we know holmes and greene will be held out. I am not suggesting you play anybody without more info which will become available closer to game time.

This is rather easy. Take the points and put them in your pocket ! Take the over as well and root for both teams. Got a harder question !

It may be preseason but, the Chiefs still have a better roster, and a more potent offense. If Manning gets a fair amount of play time maybe he'll make quick work of the Chiefs spotty defense, but it's too early to tell what the kid is going to bring to the table at this point. I just don't see the point it betting the Giants against the Chiefs, especially if you're giving up points, in any type of game, there's gotta be better plays out there. Coughlan might be a better preseason coach, but I wouldn't bet that he's gonna have the team running that smooth in their first game. The Chiefs, on the other hand, will start right where they left off, which was with a well-oiled offensive machine.

I would be surprised to see Trent Green, Priest Holmes, Tony Gonzalez, or Eddie Kennison for more than 1 drive in this game. Gonzalez and Kennison are nursing injuries and probable won't play at all.

So the question is will the Giants play Warner a lot trying to learn the new offense and how much does Manning play.

KC has nothing to prove. They have the same team as last year and know the offensive/defensive plays. The Giants have pretty much a new team and new coach. I could see the Giants playing starters or potential starters a lot longer than KC.

Maybe that is why the line is NYG -2. People will jump on KC and lose because KC won't risk anything for a meaningless preseason game when they want the superbowl. NY needs the practice to figure out plays and be competitive in a new system this year.

I am not betting but I would lean towards NY.

Will keep you posted on what I hear in the local KC media, but my guess is Priest Holmes will not play and Trent Green maybe 1 series .... Tony Gonzales nursing foot injury and probably won't play much if at all either. As for the KC defense might look for them to play more starters a bit longer as defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham will probably want to see what he's got and how they will respond to his new defensive scheme. Under Vermeil, Chiefs typically don't seem to care much about the pre-season (my opinion). Good luck.

hope I didn't talk you out of this play. I was right about the Chiefs coming out and grabbing the lead early on, but I guess it takes more than knowing how the first quarter is going to go if you're going to cap a preseason game.

Now I wish I had bet them the 1st quarter.
